Lex-Ham Band to host BandWidth 2011, 5/22

The Lex-Ham Community Band announces BandWidth 2011 - a showcase of community-based bands from around the Twin Cities for 12:30 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22 at the Landmark Center, 75 West 5th Street, in downtown Saint Paul.

The event will feature:

• Brio Brass - a 35-member Brass Swing Band;
• Capital City Wind Ensemble - a 25-member band, comprised mainly of City of Saint Paul Employees, retirees, friends and relatives;
• Fridley City Band - a 40-member concert band performing around the Fridley area for over 50 years;
• Radio in the Desert - a modern jazz ensemble;
• Minnesota State Band - the official band of the State of Minnesota and has performed throughout Minnesota since 1898;
• Optimum Trajectory - a jazz sextet in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, and the
• Lex-Ham Community Band - a 45-member concert band centered in the Lexington-Hamline neighborhood of Saint Paul

The event, free to the public, will provide people with an opportunity to hear classic concert band and jazz music performed by several of the top volunteer-based ensembles in the Twin Cities area.

Jeremy Carvell, Director of the Lex-Ham Community Band, states, "I'm excited that people can hear the wide range of top-notch music performed by groups that include people from all ages and all walks in life. We have such a vibrant music scene here in the community."

The Lex-Ham Community Band is a program of Lex-Ham Community Arts, which provides performing arts activities for the Lexington-Hamline neighborhood of St. Paul and surrounding communities. The Lex-Ham Community Band not only performs concerts year-round throughout the Twin Cities, but also has sponsored Master Classes, Music Festivals, and partnered with area schools and colleges to provide lifelong musical learning opportunities for residents regardless of your training or ability.
