History Theatre Presents Adrift on the Mississippi, Opens 2/10
History Theatre and Concordia University are teaming up to tell the story of Reverend Robert Hickman, who escaped from slavery in Missouri and led a group of slaves to freedom in the North. Hickman and his group traveled by night, making their way up the Mississippi river on a raft, eventually reaching St. Paul where they settled and later founded the first black church in Minnesota - Pilgrim Baptist Church which still stands in the Rondo neighborhood of St. Paul.
