Bloomington Civic Theatre Presents the Area Premiere of STRIKING 12, Now thru 12/16

By:

Bloomington Theatre and Art Center has announced Striking 12, a Bloomington Civic Theatre (BCT) production taking place in the Black Box Theater tonight, November 30 through December 16, 2012. Striking 12 is directed by Christine Weber.

With each actor playing a musical instrument, Striking 12 is a concert-with-a-story musical event that is sure to become a holiday classic. Striking 12 weaves a modern-day New Year's Eve into Hans Christian Andersen's classic fable "The Little Match Girl." This unique hybrid of musical theater and live concert tells the story of a grumpy, overworked New Yorker whose resolve to spend New Year's Eve alone crumbles when an unexpected visitor brings some much-needed cheer. The show springs to life through an eclectic score of new music with roots in classical, musical theater, jazz and rock. Striking 12was co-created by GrooveLily (Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda) and Tony Award-winning writer Rachel Sheinkin (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee).

Striking 12 runs tonight, November 30 through Sunday, December 16. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2:00 pm. There are two matinee performances at 2:00 pm on Saturdays, December 8 and 15.  The Friday, December 14 performance is Audio Described, and the Saturday matinee performance on December 15 is ASL interpreted for the hearing impaired. A post-show ‘talk-back’ with the cast and crew takes place after the Sunday matinee on December 2. All performances are held in the Black Box Theater at Bloomington Center for the Arts at 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd. in Bloomington, MN. All seating is general admission, and tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $15 for ages 25 and under, and may be purchased by calling the Bloomington Theatre and Art Center Box Office at 952-563-8575, or online at www.bloomingtoncivictheatre.org.

BCT is a program of Bloomington Theatre and Art Center (BTAC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2009 from the merger of Bloomington Civic Theatre and Bloomington Art Center. BTAC offers high quality Theater Productions, art education for children and adults, and visual arts exhibitions featuring the work of emerging and established artists from Minnesota and surrounding states.
