MATTHEW SWEET BAND On Tour This Fall!
Power pop legend Matthew Sweet is hitting the road this fall for select dates, including a Milwaukee show on Thursday, September 8 at Shank Hall.
Sweet has finished tracks for his Kickstarter-funded album, tentatively titled "Tomorrow Forever," and is currently mixing it. The release is set for early 2017. With a career that stretches back to the mid-'80s, Matthew Sweet has never followed trends, though his landmark early 90's records, including "Girlfriend," "Altered Beast" and "100% Fun" (featuring "Sick Of Myself") were responsible for starting one -- their caterwauling sonics opening up a wild and picturesque new terrain for restless singer/songwriters to inhabit and explore.
He's also known for his many interests and side projects - he wrote the psychedelic scene breaks for the Austin Powers movies and, due to his knowledge and extensive collection of Margaret Keane paintings, he was hired and credited as a consultant on the 2014 Tim Burton film Big Eyes. Many of the Margaret Keane paintings in the film are from Matthew's personal collection. He also has a series of cover albums with Susanna Hoffs as Sid 'n' Susie and wrote and recorded (and sang and performed guitar on) a Journey parody song for an episode of The Simpsons in which Homer forms an ill-fated garage band.Visit http://www.matthewsweet.com for more information.
