When his husband dies, Remy Washington, a Black man, finds himself to be the owner of a drive-in movie theater and a caregiver to his late husband’s straight, white teenage son, Pup. United by their love of classic American monster movies, the two have developed a warm and caring familial chemistry – but their relationship fractures when Remy discovers that Pup and his friends have been bullying a gay teen at his school. Told through dueting monologue and playful dialogue, this haunting and humorous tale is about fathers and sons, ghosts and monsters, discovery and resilience while being transported to worlds beyond through the American cinema.

Kevin Daniels as Remy (BROADWAY: Shakespeare's Twelfth Night; Lead role of Magic Johnson in Broadway's Magic/Bird. Currently, CBS reboot of Frasier playing opposite Kelsey Grammer). Logan Leonardo Arditty as Pup AKA Peter Miller (is making his play debut after a number of roles in film/television – Best Actor Awards: NYLIFF, Brussels, Best Film - and as a musician/songwriter).

May 03, 2024 MONSTERS OF THE AMERICAN CINEMA, a whip smart and heartfelt play by Christian St. Croix produced in its L.A. premiere by Rogue Machine Theatre, argues that in the present, monsters and human beings aren’t easily distinguishable from each other. Monsters can take human form and vice versa. I guess that’s the…uh…the Thing?

Rogue Machine’s producing artistic director John Perrin Flynn directs the cast of Kevin Daniels and Logan Leonardo Arditty.
