The Williamston Theatre has applied to the Pepsi Refresh Project for a $50,000 grant in support of its current season. The Pepsi Refresh Project will be awarding ten grants of $50,000 in the month of November. Awards are based upon online votes from the public that are placed during the course of the month. Winners will be announced in December.

The Williamston Theatre is asking the general public to visit the Pepsi Refresh Project website at (http://www.refresheverything.com/), register to vote and place a vote in support of the Theatre's 5th Season. The public will be able to view the Theatre's application online, including more information about the current season, photos from past seasons, and a short film about the Theatre's accomplishments and awards. The productions for the 5th Season offer a diversity of styles and themes and include; a theatrical exploration of the African American experience (Blue Door), an off-Broadway hit comedy about small town America (Greater Tuna), a Greek tragedy (Oedipus), a Michigan premiere of a contemporary comedy about a family coping with societal change in the 1950s (While We Were Bowling), an American classic (Eleemosynary) and a World Premiere by Michigan playwright Joseph Zettelmaier (And The Creek Don't Rise). Single tickets for the second production of the Season, Greater Tuna, are currently on sale.

The Williamston Theatre, in operation since 2006, has bucked all trends and exhibited growth during a time of extreme economic pressures in Michigan. With slow but steady increases in attendance over the course of the past four seasons, the Theatre has attracted over 28,500 people to its productions in downtown Williamston. "A Pepsi Refresh Project Grant would be a great help for us at this time," said John Lepard, the Theatre's Executive Director. "It would provide us with critical financial stability at a time when grants and sponsorships from other sources have been all but eliminated."

More information about the Williamston Theatre, its past shows, and its upcoming season is available at the Theatre's website at www.williamstontheatre.org or by calling (517) 655-7469. The Williamston Theatre is located in the heart of downtown Williamston at 122 S. Putnam Street.
