Magenta Giraffe Announces Special Skills Talent Show Fundraiser 4/21

By:

Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company is pleased to announce its Special Skills Talent Show fundraiser. The show will be held at 1515 Broadway in downtown Detroit on Thursday, April 21, at 7:30 pm. Prizes will be awarded to winners in several categories.

Actors all have that section on their résumés: SPECIAL SKILLS. Impersonations, martial arts, singing, playing musical instruments, dancing, juggling, gymnastics, ventriloquism, dialects... We can do all kinds of things, but how often do we get to show them off? Well, now's your chance to catch some of these special skills in action and raise money for Magenta Giraffe at the same time!

The Special Skills Talent Show will feature theatre artists with unique talents they would like to exhibit! Prizes of gift certificates to local theatres and businesses will be awarded to the winners of an audience vote in the following categories:

Most Unique
Most Impractical
Most Inappropriate in the Workplace
Most Time Consuming
Most Likely to Go Wrong
Most Likely to See in Las Vegas
Most Enviable
What Were You Thinking When You Taught Yourself This?

There will be a raffle for audience members at the show, with the winners chosen just before prizes are awarded to performers.

The evening's host will be the one and only Dave Davies. Acts include singing, belly dancing, a magic show, precision jump-roping, a one-woman variety show, fluent French-speaking, stand-up comedy and a "ventriloquism" act. Performers are Adam Barnowski, Stephen Brown, Josh Campos, Kate Connolly, Sarah Cornett, Jonathan Davidson, Kirsten Knisely, Audra Lord, Molly McMahon, Lauren Montgomery, Brian Papandrea, Marty Smith and the band Madison Avenue. Detroit musician Jesse Shepherd-Bates will play some of his original music while the audience votes are tallied.

ABOUT Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company - Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization that acts to eliminate apathy, violence, prejudice and barriers to education through theatre productions, projects and programs; and further acts to reestablish and expand Detroit's theatre district.
