SoBe Institute of the Arts announces its SoBe Arts Summer Program 2010 for children, teens and adults.

Two 4 week sessions:
Session 1: June 21 - July 16
Session 2: July 19 - August 13

SoBe Arts is located in the historic Carl Fisher Clubhouse and Little Stage Theater Complex on Miami Beach.

This summer we are pleased to offer high-level programs in Music, Acting, Dance and Musical Theater, taught by a faculty of great instructors with experience in world-class performing arts organizations including, Twyla Tharp Dance, The Juilliard School, Actors Theater of Louisville and The Public Theater / New York Shakespeare Festival (NYC), all supervised by Executive Artistic Director, Carson Kievman, Ph.D. (Princeton University):

SOBE ARTS SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS TEENS, KIDS & TOTS

SoBe Arts Dance Program for All Ages. Students will work with professional dancers and choreographers and have fun learning the techniques of modern and traditional dance. They will also create costumes and props, design and work with lights and sound... and finally perform in a dance created for them, by them, and by fellow participants (accompanied by live music by students from the music program). Dance Instructor: Lara Tinari.

SoBe Arts Musical Theater Program for All Ages. These classes help the students take steps to becoming a triple threat performer: Actor - Singer - Dancer. Participants will focus on scenes, songs, and choreography from musicals old and new. Topics learned will include: bringing characterization to a song and choreography, defining a character, vocal techniques, and mastering the various musical theatre techniques and styles and acting, dance and voice. Instructors: voice instructor, Katheen Bell; acting instructors adults, Glen Lawrence and youth, Carey Kane; dance instructor Lara Tinari.
SoBe Arts Acting Program for All Ages. Young Actors work with theater professionals and will receive intensive training in acting for theater and film and finally perform in a production created for them, by them and your fellow participants. For Adult Actors returning to acting as well as those new to the discipline are our focus. Emphasis is on a vital part of actor training: a reliable and repeatable technique, a 'way of working' on auditions, scenes, monologues and roles to keep the actor working. Based on Shurtleff's 12 Guideposts from his seminal book AUDITION, with added exposure to the Meisner technique and others, the class is 'study in action' as actors work on scenes and monologues with video taping and playback to accelerate their progress. Instructors - Glen Lawrence, adult actors; Carey Kane, young actors.

SoBe Arts Music Program for All Ages. SoBe Arts Music Programs are designed to provide extraordinary multifaceted music education through the use of private & group instrumental and voice instruction, musicianship/chamber ensemble classes , intro to music for tots and performance activities. Instrument classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced students include all strings, winds, brass and percussion, as well as guitar and piano classes. New: Beginning & Advanced Youth Chamber Ensembe and Community Chamber Ensemble. Music Instructors

All programs are completed with performances. Date and times TBA
