Rosie O'Donnell Cancels Engagement at the Dinah

By:

Activist, talk show personality, comedian and stage and screen star Rosie O'Donnell was set to return to stand-up comedy at the Club Skirts Presents The Dinah® on Friday, April 2 at the Palm Springs Convention Center- but she sent out a press release this morning cancelling the engagement.

She explained that she wanted to spend time in Miami with her kids.

Dinah organizers released a statement saying: "We are very disappointed in this decision, and know her Dinah fans will be as well."

Rosie's appearance was to be a part of Club Skirts' 20th Anniversary season. It was also anticipated that Rosie would take the show on tour to Seattle and Portland following this engagement.

After formally taking a break from the comedy circuit in 1995, O'Donnell went onto host the Emmy winning The Rosie O'Donnell Show, and The View and star on Broadway in GREASE. Additional Broadway credits for the star include FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, TABOO, and SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL. O'Donnell is currently emceeing her own raodio show, Rosie Radio, on Sirius XM Radio.

Founder of Club Skirts and The modern day Dinah Shore Weekend, Mariah Hanson produced her first Dinah Shore Weekend in 1991. Taking over the stunning Palm Springs Museum, booking entire hotels so that they were 100% lesbian occupied, bringing in national sponsors, current national recording artists, and keeping all events in walking distance, she developed a Dinah concept that is still imitated today. The simple but daring concept catapulted the Dinah to international fame. Today, The Dinah is considered the largest lesbian event in the world.
