Travels to Coral Springs

On Display - Fourteen recent Public Art & Design

Projects Created by 28 Artists

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - Everyone is invited to the exhibition, Natural Forces: Broward County Public Art & Design, which will run from March 4 - April 24, 2010, at the Coral Springs Museum of Art, 2855 Coral Springs Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33065. There will be an opening reception on March 4, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  The event is $10 for non-members; and free to museum members.

Broward County Cultural Division has assembled this exhibition of 14 recent Public Art & Design projects, using conceptual drawings, models and videos of the recent artworks commissioned and developed by 28 artists, working through the Broward County Public Art & Design Program.

Natural Forces is an extensive mixture of collaborative ideas with earth's natural elements at its center. The result is a culmination of creative minds focused on the future and bringing awareness through art. The various artworks capture natural phenomenon such as the light on water at sunset in the dynamic of the constantly changing sky (Alison Sky's Vanishing View); the refraction of color through glass that forms waves in a harmonious combination of light and shadow (Christopher Janney's Shadow Boxing); or words engraved into stone as a metaphor for the library which functions to help one 'see' in new ways (Steve Gillman & Katherine Keefer's Written Words), to name of a few of the artistic elements and stories at work in this multi-dimensional exhibition. Many of the pieces were designed within the portfolio of a Park Bond Master Plan and Library Bond Master Plan. This exhibition is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Also on Exhibition at the museum is Hunt Slonem: Birds, Butterflies & Bunnies; W.F. Withers: Abstract Visions; A Private Collection: Indian & Persian Silver; Shelly Parriott: Color Field Sculpture in the Plein Air Gallery.
