Lyric Theatre Presents Julie Budd in a Tribute to Dorothy Fields, 2/6

By:

The Lyric Theatre presents Julie Budd in a Tribute to Dorothy Fields February 6, 2010.

Throughout her extraordinary five-decade career, lyricist Dorothy Fields co-wrote more than 400 songs, including hits like "I'm in the Mood for Love," "Big Spender," "If My Friends Could See Me Now," and "The Way You Look Tonight." In this unforgettable concert, Julie Budd, the singer The New York Times called "The Consummate Performer," will bring Fields' legacy to life.

"Dorothy Fields was a real trail blazer," enthuses Budd. "She wrote brilliant musical pieces, collaborating with the likes of Jerome Kern, Cy Coleman and the Gershwins. There has never been a more powerful and successful woman in music than Dorothy Fields."

Julie Budd has quite a success story of her own. Discovered at the age of 12, she played her first engagement in the Catskills and within six months was appearing on the Merv Griffin Show. Throughout her career she has co-starred with such legendary performers as Frank Sinatra, Bill Cosby, Bob Hope, George Burns, Liberace and Carol Burnett.

A sophisticated musical stylist, Budd has performed in major symphony halls worldwide, including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, the London Palladium and the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, as well as in noted venues from Las Vegas to Atlantic City. This concert promises to be a magical evening of evergreen classics, sung by one of the most exciting performers on the scene today.
