Now celebrating twelve glorious years of girls, glitz and glamour across the country and winner of six 1997 Tony® Awards, CHICAGO will play the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami as the grand finale of the 2008-2009 Broadway Season presented by RRA Broadway Across America -Miami, Florida Theatrical Association and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County May 26 -31, 2009.
Murder. Greed. Corruption. Violence. Exploitation. Adultery. Treachery. Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who maliciously murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her devious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.
Sofia is set to start work on the new ABC pilot "An American Family" next month. Most recently, Sofia has appeared in "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns" and "Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail" for Lionsgate and on ABC's breakout hit, "Dirty Sexy Money" where she played the free-spirited love interest to the youngest Darling son. Before that she played the sexy Columbian actress who stirred things up on last season's "Entourage."
With a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, CHICAGO is the winner of six 1997 Tony® Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.
