Casting Announced For A Classic Theatre's RIPCORD

Casting Announced For A Classic Theatre's RIPCORD Image

A talented cast of 6 actors will be featured in A Classic Theatre's production of David Lindsay-Abaire's hilarious new comedy, Ripcord. It's a battle of wits between two feisty roommates at an assisted living facility with nothing in common but a rivalry to make Bette Davis and Joan Crawford look like amateurs.

The production, directed by Deborah Dickey, is made up of a seasoned cast of performers including Jan LoPresti-Beach as the dour and opinionated Abby Binder, Vanessa Warner as the oh-so-cheery Marilyn Dunne, and featuring Ashley Carter as Scotty, their patient but harried referee. The cast is rounded out by Aaron Jockers, Julie Grayauskie and John Grayauskie, who join in the fun, scheming along with Bristol Place Senior Living Facility's most engaging residents.

A Classic Theatre presents this wonderfully heartfelt production of RIPCORD in its St. Augustine premiere with six performances at the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center located at 102 M L King Ave., on Feb. 22-23 and Mar. 1-2 at 7:30 pm with matinees on Feb. 24 and Mar. 3 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.aclassictheatre.org/tickets or call Jan at 904-501-5093 for reservations.

Pulitzer-prize winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire has created a play of high-stakes hilarity and has said that the play harkens back to some of the great comedies about two characters of a certain age really going at it with each other but what I loved about them was that they were all incredibly human. Lindsay-Abaire received the Pulitzer prize for his play Rabbit Hole. Some of his other works include Good People and Shrek, The Musical. With his signature mixture of light and dark, hope and fear, RIPCORD is wildly theatrical and shot through with a big throbbing heart, drawing you in as each character tries to outwit the other and then inviting the audience, and anyone who experiences this story, to embrace the idea of being present and joyful, because life is going to end whether you like it or not. With shenanigans and skydiving, what's not to like?
