Broward Cultural Division invites Broward School's representatives, teachers, government entities and members of the general community to nominate an outstandingTeaching Artist in Broward County for doing a remarkable job in dedication to this field. This new corollary to the 2013 Arts Teacher of the Year AwardProgram highlights the significance of Teaching Artiststo the sustainability and advancement of arts education. Teaching Artists may also submit applications for themselves. The application deadline is October 18.
Teaching Artists who are listed in Broward Cultural Division's Arts Education Directory are eligible for nomination by any representatives from Broward's schools, government entities and any organizations that have utilized the services of the nominated teaching artist more than once within the past 24 months.
To increase public awareness of the importance of arts education in our everyday lives, the Arts Teacher of the Year Program has expanded to recognize and promote not only school-based arts teachers, but also Teaching Artists working throughout Broward County schools and communities. The Teaching Artist Recognition Award honors an outstanding Teaching Artist who has demonstrated dedication, achievement and professionalism in the arts education field. The recipient of this award will be announced, and presented with a recognition plaque and a $1,000 cash gift, at the Broward County Arts Teacher of the Year Ceremony on November 6 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
