Bach Festival Society Receives Grant For Young At Heart Chorale Publicity

By: Jun. 10, 2009

The Bach Festival Society is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Central Florida to fund publicity efforts and the purchase of new sheet music for the Young at Heart Chorale.

The Young at Heart Chorale is a group of seniors who share a love of singing, meeting weekly to rehearse and socialize. Led by long-time Central Florida resident and music educator Jodi Tassos, the Young At Heart Chorale specializes in favorite standards and show tunes but covers many other styles and ranges as well. The Chorale has been in need of new music, and this grant will allow the Society to purchase music for the next four years.

The Chorale annually presents about a dozen free performances for a variety of community organizations and retirement centers, such as the Winter Park Towers and the V.A. Hospital. "This is a unique program because it provides a great way for seniors in our community to engage with each other while giving something back to others," said Betsy Gwinn, Executive Director of the Bach Festival Society.

For more information on the Young at Heart Chorale or to join for the fall semester, email youngatheart@bachfestivalflorida.org or call the Bach Festival Society Office at 407.646.2182.
