Review: The Miami Symphony Orchestra

By:

The Miami Symphony Orchestra's (MISO) Grand Opening Season took place October, 4th inside the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. With 80 worldwide musicians, the start of the 27th season was impressive.

Venezuelan composer Eduardo Marturet led the show as the Music Director and Conductor for the 10th season in a row. The first melody, Franz Schubert Symphony No. 8 in B mino, d. 759 "Unfinished" filled the interior of John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall beautifully. Booming instruments powered through the room with such ease, but the real stunner was the premiere of Tulio Cremisini, Echoes, in which Marturet dedicated to the orchestra.

A song about "memories", it was uplifting, sad, engaging and purely delightful. The emotion was heard through the violins, the cello and the flute as the rhythm swayed from light and airy to passionate and intense. A lovely mix of instruments creating a heartfelt beat that could bring a tear to any eye.

Concertmaster and lead violinist, Daniel Andai from the Manhattan School of Music in Carnegie Hall worked hand in hand with Marturet, leading the pack to exceptional sound throughout the evening.

And the season has only begun. Catch shows in Downtown and Wynwood until May 15th.
