The Front Page was an instant hit when it opened on Broadway in the Roaring ‘20s, and it has remained an American comedy classic ever since. The action takes place in a bustling courthouse press room in Chicago, where reporters from numerous city newspapers pass the time with poker and pungent wisecracks, waiting for news to happen. Star reporter Hildy Johnson announces he’s quitting his paper to get married and move to New York … but after a shocking turn of events, Hildy puts his fiancée on hold while he works with his scheming editor to cash in on the story of a lifetime.
