How do actors ever figure out how to make up the words – and characters – and plots of improvisations? Seem impossible to you? Or at least uncomfortable? Well there are techniques for this. They’re not so hard to learn. And they’re fun!
Instructor: Carol Korty has studied these techniques with Viola Spolin, creator of Theatre Games described in her classic book Improvisation for the Theatre, and Keith Johnstone, a more recent master and author of the classic book Impro. The exercises are effective in freeing you from anxiety to “play”. The workshop focus will be on connecting with fellow players on stage, staying in the moment and dealing with the unexpected. Korty has used these techniques for years in acting classes, in rehearsals, and in developing original theater pieces. She promises you’ll enjoy yourselves.
