At a time of major transitions in global alignments, the 25th annual Camden Conference, a world-renowned event held each winter in Maine, is attracting significant attention as it gears up to present the nation’s most pressing issues. The conference will probe the rise of new economic power centers amid prolonged economic distress, and consider how our fractured domestic political discourse hampers clear policy decisions. It will ask a panel of national experts, including two former U.S. governors, to address the prospects for our future role on the world stage and the continued effective exercise of our diplomatic, military, economic, and political powers in the years ahead.
This year’s conference theme focuses on our nation as a player in the 21st century and asks: “Do We Have What it Takes?” This year’s Global Sponsor, R. M. Davis, Inc., a leading Maine financial management firm which regularly studies and presents on what is required in order to compete in the world economy stated, “We are very proud to be the 2012 Global Sponsor of the Camden Conference. This nationally acclaimed event fosters discourse on the world’s most pressing issues, many of which are financial in nature, and all of which will impact America’s future. Our sponsorship will help provide a wealth of information to our community, our clients and their families.”
This year’s conference is expected to attract more than 800 people from across the country who will participate in a 3-day event designed to address issues including: the role of American diplomacy; national security; political gridlock in Washington; the American and global economies; the quality of our public education system; the influence of the media; and energy security and environmental matters.
The 25th annual Camden Conference, “The U.S. in a 21st Century World: Do we have what it takes?” will be held February 17-19, 2012 at the Camden Opera House and live streamed to venues in Rockland, Belfast and Ellsworth.
