Good Theater Adding Performances To CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME

Good Theater has kicked off its 17th season with the Tony Award winning Best Play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets the company is adding two Tuesday evening performances on October 16 and 23 at 7:00. Tickets for these two performances along with all remaining tickets for other performances are now on sale on-line (www.goodtheater.com) or via telephone (207-835-0895). The production runs through October 28 at Good Theater's home the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland.
Theater at Monmouth Brings Shakespeare to Maine Communities with Tour of KING LEAR

William Shakespeare's King Lear is TAM's Shakespeare in Maine Communities offering for 2018. King Lear will tour for three weeks to schools and community centers across the state from October 9-26 and run for one weekend only in Cumston Hall October 12 through 14. TAM's production is part of Shakespeare in American Communities, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. The Shakespeare in Maine Communities tour is also funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission and the Betterment Foundation.

University of Southern Maine School of Music Presents Laura Kargul In Concert: Wild At Heart

Laura Kargul, internationally acclaimed pianist and Director of Keyboard Studies at the University of Southern Maine School of Music, will give a solo recital, 'Wild at Heart,' at Corthell Concert Hall at USM in Gorham on Friday, October 19 at 8 p.m. The program will feature works by Mozart, Schumann and Liszt, all inspired by emotional landscapes of passion and drama.
WAIT UNTIL DARK Opens at Penobscot Theatre Company

Penobscot Theatre Company will produce the classic thriller Wait Until Dark by Frederick Knott, in a new adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher, as the second show in its 45th Season. Performances will run October 18 - November 4 at the historic Bangor Opera House.

Marking its 45th season Portland Stage opened with Richard Strand's 2014 drama about the Union General Benjamin Butler's unintentional, but heartwarming sheltering of fugitive slaves during his command of Fort Monroe, Virginia, at the start of the Civil War. In a well-cast, elegantly produced staging the company offers a quirky, witty, often whimsical look at four characters who cross ideological swords and skirmish for high stakes not on the battleground but with a war of words, cleverly turned logic, solipsisms, and wittybadinage - all of which result in a remarkable turn of events that defies stereotypes, race, and convention.

Good Theater is celebrating its 17th season with the company's biggest season ever.  The professional company in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland, begins with the Tony Award winning The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, based on the best-selling novel of the same name, by Mark Haddon and adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens.   The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time makes its Portland premiere on October 3, running four weeks through October 28.
