FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Contact: Taylor Torsky Board President taylor@highviewartscenter.com https://www.highviewartscenter.com/ 812-219-3100 Louisville, KY | August 2023 — Highview Arts Center is delighted to announce its upcoming production of the timeless comedic masterpiece, "The Importance of Being Earnest," written by Oscar Wilde. Set to grace the stage September 14, 15, 16 & 21, 22, 23 at 7:30pm, as well as, September 17 & 24 at 2:30pm, this new twist of a production promises an evening of wit, charm, and laughter for theatre enthusiasts and newcomers alike. "The Importance of Being Earnest" is a celebrated satirical play that explores the web of love, deception, and societal expectations. The play follows the hilarious escapades of two bachelors, Jack and Algernon, who both create fictional personas to escape the constraints of their social lives. Their double lives lead to a series of misunderstandings, mistaken identities, and unanticipated situations that challenge the norms of Victorian society. As a keystone of literary and theatrical history, "The Importance of Being Earnest" continues to captivate audiences with its razor-sharp dialogue, quick-witted humor, and astute commentary on the conventions of the upper class. "We are thrilled to bring this iconic work of Oscar Wilde to our stage," said Taylor Torsky, Board President of Highview Arts Center. "The play's timeless themes and humor resonate across generations, and our talented cast and crew are dedicated to delivering a production that honors Wilde's wit and brilliance." The production features a talented ensemble cast drawn from the local community and returning faces, including cast and crew of our first production of our inaugural season last year, each bringing their own unique interpretation to the characters. The HAC creative team, led by Jay Marie Padilla-Hayter, has worked tirelessly to create a visually stunning and engaging rendition of the play that stays true to its essence while infusing it with a fresh energy.
