Independent Opera Company presents a Los Angeles premiere of Richard Strauss's rarely performed opera, Daphne, on March 21 and 22, 2025. Directed by Theresa Patten-Koeckert with artistic oversight by Galina Barskaya, this fully staged production highlights the story of Diane, a country girl caught in a love triangle between her childhood friend Leukippos and the god Apollo. With themes of women's independence and a connection to nature, the opera features a beautiful score stemming from a turbulent time in history. Performed in German with English supertitles, Daphne promises to deliver a captivating experience amidst the stunning backdrop of La Cañada Congregational Church.
