iCadenza Artist to Play Franz Liszt Repertoire at Colburn School 6/19

By:

Classical pianist Rufus Choi, whose talent and vibrant style have rocketed his young career to rare heights, will be demonstrating why he won the prestigious Jose Iturbi International Competition during a Father's Day Concert June 19th in downtown Los Angeles at Zipper Hall, part of the Colburn School of Performing Arts, 200 S. Grand.

Playing excerpts from his new album, Choi will feature the works of composer Franz Liszt.

"Rufus Choi is a brilliant pianist with big technique, wonderful tone, natural musicality and deep understanding of the composer's intent," praises Oxana Yablonskaya, former professor of piano faculty at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City.

The New York Concert Review calls him "an energized pianist whose white-hot pianism makes you want to love him."

"Like any artist with Choi's exceptional talent, the need exists to ever-widen his fan base and find new avenues to express his creativity," says Jennifer Chernick, co-founder of iCadenza and Cadenza Artists, designed to help classical musicians promote their careers and take advantage of business opportunities.

Choi, who is now managed by Cadenza Artists, said his previous management organizations "were not aggressive enough in looking after my interests. I wanted a company that treated me as if I was their only client. Selecting Cadenza Artists was a no-brainer," he said.

"Rufus' last concert at the Colburn School was a sold-out performance benefitting the Amron Foundation, which supports musician education," Chernick added. "This concert will benefit L'ermitage Foundation, which presents internationally recognized artists in intimate concerts and donates the proceeds to charity."

A native Californian of Korean heritage, Choi started playing the piano at age 4, and honed his art while studying at Juilliard, where he earned both bachelor and master's degrees in music. At the Musik Hochschule in Hannover, Germany, he attained the Soloklassen -- the highest degree attainable at the institution. His technique has been fined tuned by such prominent teachers as Vladimir Krainev and Oxana Yablonskaya.

Ticket prices are $35 for general seating, $50 for priority seating and $20 for students. They can be obtained by calling (424) 235-0507 or emailing Cadenza at info@cadenzaartists.com.
