West Coast Premiere Stars Tim Cummings And Bree Turner In CAL IN CAMO

By:

Do wounds from the past irrevocably impact our capacity to connect? Lyrical and mysterious, Hoffman's play probes the nature of bonding in family relationships and beyond. With heart aching humor, he explores the revelations we all resist when overcoming the obstacles we must conquer.

"There is a wild poetry afoot here; bringing to the forefront the expectations we put on ourselves, our families, our relationships, our children," says director Amy K. Harmon. "It's like a primal pulse that develops into a tome, animalistic yet delicate, about fighting for ones individual survival while trying to save the pack."

William Francis Hoffman (Playwright) recently completed his latest full-length play, Drift, which will receive its first workshop at Palm Beach Dramaworks in January. His play Cal in Camo received its world premiere in May of 2016 at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in New York City. He was a member of the Rivendell Theatre Ensemble in Chicago, Illinois and is a current member of the Actor's Gym in Los Angeles California, where he resides. William is currently working on a pilot and has outlined the first season.

Amy K. Harmon (Director) helmed the world premiere production of And Then They Fell, by Tira Palquist, and Pack Up The Moonby Christina Cigala for Brimmer Street Theatre Company. For Equity Fights AIDS, she directed Scenes From A Marriage, by Michael Rex, and A Poster of the Cosmos by Lanford Wilson. On stage at Rogue Machine she played Sandy in the world premiere of Vince Melocchi's Nice Things, and has numerous film and TV credits which include a co-starring roles in HBO's American Splendor, and ABC's Scandal, Castle, and Inside the Box.

Our Cast includes Tim Cummings as Flynt (3x recipient - LA Drama Critics Circle Award, LA Weekly Award Best Supporting), 2x SAGE Awards. The House in Scarsdale: A Memoir for the Stage at Boston Court; Need To Know and The New Electric Ballroom at Rogue Machine; The Woodsman at Coeurage; Reunion and Eurydice at South Coast Rep; The Normal Heart at The Fountain Theatre, Bree Turner as Cal (Rosalee in the six-season run of Grimm, Freda in Smashed - Sundance Film Festival premiere, Jewtopia, directed by Bryan Fogel), Brad Raider as Tim (Henry in Henry V, Louis in Red Dog's production of Greedy, Podnov in Red Dog's Grand Delusion, ABC's The Trouble With Normal and That Was Then, two-time best indie-film fest winnerKensho at the Bedfellow), and Steve Hofvendahl as Owner (Hot House, As You Like It, The Crucible, Macbeth, Peace in Our Time at Antaeus Theatre Company; The Engine of Our Ruin at Victory; Baby Doll at Fountain Theatre).

"Hoffmann's expressive writing style evokes a nature versus nurture apparition that haunts the modern, American Midwest. The play illumines themes reminiscent of Sam Shepherd," says co-Artistic Director James Roday, "with the suburban undertones of a Gregory Crewdson photograph."

Our Creative Team includes James Roday (Producer and co-Artistic Director for Red Dog; currently on ABC's A Million Little Things), Johnny Clark (Artistic Director for VS.), Se Hyun Oh (Set Design), Chris Moscatiello (Sound Design), Derrick McDaniel (Lighting Design), and Gali Noy (Costume Design)

Cal in Camo opens at 8pm on Saturday, Oct 13, 2018 and continues at 8pm Thursdays-Saturdays, and 3pm Sundays through November 9, 2018. VS. Theatre is located at 5453 Pico Blvd. in Los Angeles, 90019. Tickets are $20 - $35. Reservations: reddogsquadron.com and more information 323-739-4411
