Titled Field Productions and Son of Semele Team Up for LAST DAYS OF MARY STUART WORKSHOP, Feb 24 to Mar 3

By:

Tilted Field Productions, a geographically diversified collective with
members in Chicago, Los Angles, New York, and San Francisco, has announced their upcoming collaboration with Son of Semele for a workshop of The Last Days of Mary Stuart.

With a score by LA rockers Byron Kahr and John Nixon, The Last Days of Mary Stuart brings a nearly forgotten clash of rival queens into the 21st Century. Adapted from F. Schiller’s sprawling verse play, this music-driven drama pits the Catholic icon Mary Stuart against the Protestant pragmatist Elizabeth I in a battle for the soul of England.

There will be eight public performances, which are not open for review. The schedule is as follows: Fridays, February 24 & March 2, and Saturdays, February 18 & 25 & March 3, at 11pm; Sundays, February 19 & 26 & March 4, at 8pm. Tickets (general admission seating for $10) are available online at www.sonofsemele.org.

Directed by Becca Wolff, The Last Days of Mary Stuart will feature L.A. bands TONY and whqles. Wolff’s directing credits include productions at the Odyssey Theatre, Theatre of Note, and Ensemble Studio Theatre LA; Usher (NY International Fringe Festival), and Status Update by Tilted Field company member Dorothy Fortenberry, a play with songs that is being produced later this year at Center Rep in Walnut Creek, CA. TONY is vocalist/guitarist Byron Kahr, drummer John Nixon, and Molly Sullivan on bass. Both Kahr and Nixon were formerly band members of the local band City of Progress. The band whqles is John Nixon and keyboard player Ryan Adlaf. They are heard regularly around LA at such venues as Funhouse, The Mountain Bar, and The Kibitz Room, among others.

The cast of The Last Days of Mary Stuart will include (in alphabetical order) Alex Knox, Charlotta Mohlin, Meagan Prahl, and Molly Sullivan. Also participating in the workshop are set designer Michael Locher (Tilted Field member, and currently represented by Troilus & Cressida at Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland), and lighting designer Elizabeth Harper (Ovation Award-nominee for The Twentieth Century Way at The Theatre @ Boston Court). The original rock score is by Byron Kahr and John Nixon, with lyrics by Wolff. Tilted Field company member Roberta Pereira (in NYC) and co-founder Jacob Padrón (in Chicago) are the producers.

Tilted Field Productions, co-founded by Becca Wolff and Jacob Padrón, is a company that creates and develops unique story-based projects in theatre, film, television, and new media.   For more information, visit www.tiltedfield.com.
