By:
Beginning Sunday, October 26, The Clown School welcomes back Phil Burgers, aka Dr. Brown, to teach a seven-week-long series of clown Masterclasses.

Burgers, through the character of Dr. Brown, is the winner of a Foster's Edinburgh Festival Comedy Award, a Director's Choice award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and a Total Theatre Award for Innovation, among others. His shows have been performed across the world and The Guardian describes him as "a cult phenomenon." After Burgers' recent September Intensive at The Clown School, one participant wrote: "I have taken several clown workshops in the last few years, and this one stands out as [my] favorite." Open to participants at all levels of experience, Burgers' Masterclasses series is sure to provide an invigorating exploration into the world of clown.

"These guys will change the way that you live in your body and will help you make more room for your talent and your fun. Study with them. Make a beautiful and hilarious mess," says Christopher Bayes, Head of Physical Acting, Yale School of Drama. And of the class, Artistic Director David Bridel explains, "We base our work in the discipline of clown because we believe that clowning embraces and celebrates the totality of the human experience and offers unparalleled freedom in art. We love to play!"

The Fall Masterclasses series meets every Sunday from 10/26 through 12/7, 5pm-9pm. Classes will be held at Live Arts LA, Eagle Rock and the fee is $395, with discounts offered to those who have previously attended a Clown School class. Kicking off 2015, Virginia Scott will teach a seven-week Commedia dell'Arte class on Sundays from January 11 through February 22. Likewise, discounts are available for previous students as well as those who invite their friends to join The Clown School's mailing list and Facebook and Twitter pages.
