TOTALLY ’80s HOLLYWOOD BOWL to Return 9/2
By: Lauren Wolman Aug. 17, 2011
Totally '80s Hollywood Bowl returns to the iconic venue on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 7:30 PM with The Human League, The B-52s, The Fixx and Berlin. The evening will be hosted by Berlin's inimitable frontwoman Terri Nunn.
The Human League is one of the most innovative and influential bands to have broken into the electro-pop mainstream during the 80s. Their marriage of infectious melodies and state-of-the-art technology proved enormously influential on countless acts following in their wake. To date, the band has sold over 20 million albums worldwide, with the help of smash hit singles "Don't You Want Me," "Human," and "(Keep Feeling) Fascination." However, the group who were famously described by David Bowie in 1979 as "the sound of the future," has never been about resting on its laurels. Thus, The Human League is set to release their ninth studio album Credo, the band's first release in ten years (following 2001's Secrets). Credo was just released digitally on Tuesday, August 16 in North America via the MB3 Records/EMI Music imprint and will be released physically on September 13. The Human League, Psychedelic Furs and ABC headlined Totally '80s Hollywood Bowl in 2006.Thirty-five years and over twenty million albums into their career, The B-52s remain among the most beloved bands ever. From the timeless gems of "Rock Lobster," "Planet Claire," and "Private Idaho" to the more recent classics "Love Shack," "Roam," and "Funplex," The B-52s' unforgettable dance-rock tunes start a party every time their music begins. On October 11, 2011, The B-52s will release their first-ever live album, With The Wild Crowd! - Live In Athens, GA. Recorded in February 2011, the show commemorated the 34th anniversary of the band's first-ever live show on Valentine's Day 1977. Wig-wearing, boa-draped, glitter-covered fans came from near and far to celebrate this historic event, which saw the band deliver a sizzling 90-minute set that turned Athens' Classic Center into a cosmic dancehall. The show was also filmed in high definition and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in 2012.
