SkyPilot Theatre Company Presents Workshop Production of KEITH HARING: PIECES OF A LIFE, 8/1-10

By:

1980s phenomenon pop artist Keith Haring has a problem. Make that two problems. 1) He's in a coma in February 1990, about to die. 2) The Man Who Knows Things and The Woman Who Knows (two beings that may or may not be gods) say his art's going to kill lots of people-unless he travels back to key points in his own life and agrees to destroy it. The horrible thing is, they might be right...

As Keith races through a whirlwind of own life (constantly pursued by the mysterious Man and Woman), he and his friends-mercurial Basquiat, loyal Kenny Scharf, savvy Madonna, and enigmatic Andy Warhol- wrestle with the big questions: What does it mean to pursue a life in art? Can you ever find a balance between making your art and being happy? What do the Man and Woman really want? And how do you stop them?

Greg Machlin, the award-winning writer of Seven Days: A Fantasia on the Life of Miles Davis, Doug Oliphant, director behind the critically acclaimed RITE OF SEYMOUR by Allison Volk and SkyPilot Theatre, the company that brought you KONG: A GODDAMN 30-FOOT GORILLA by Adam Hahn, WARBRIDE by Samantha Macher and 4 MURDERS by Brett Neveu, bring you KEITH HARING: PIECES OF A LIFE.
