Rockwell Table & Stage Presents THE UNAUTHORIZED MUSICAL PARODY OF 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU Image

Rockwell Table & Stage expands their hit "Unauthorized Musical Parody of.." (UMPO) Series with the 1999 classic film "10 Things I Hate About You." Kicking off on March 22, 2019, audiences will be able to experience this unique, hilarious, and slightly-dramatic musical theatre film parody. Running every Friday and Saturday night at 8pm and Sundays at noon, until May 12th.

In a film starring the late Heath Ledger singing Frankie Valli classics with a marching band; a baby-faced Joseph Gordon-Levitt and an ingenue Julia Stiles, there are without a doubt plenty of things to love in 10 Things I Hate About You.

This makes it the ideal teen cult comedy to get the UMPO treatment at Rockwell Table & Stage. Featuring L.A. based actors and singers from TV, film, and Broadway, UMPO: 10 Things I Hate About You is a cheeky, song-filled parody that'll have you swimming in '90s nostalgia. Directed by Nathan Moore. Written and executive produced by Kate Pazakis.

10 Things I Hate About You is a coming of age teen romantic comedy, modernizing William Shakespeare's late-16th century classic The Taming of the Shrew, retold in an American high school setting. In the story, new student Cameron (Gordon-Levitt) is smitten with Bianca Stratford (Oleynik) and, in order to get around her father's strict rules on dating, attempts to get bad boy Patrick (Ledger) to date Bianca's ill-tempered sister, Kat Stratford (Stiles). The film is titled after a poem written by Kat about her bittersweet romance with Patrick. Much of the filming took place in the Seattle Metropolitan area, with many scenes shot at Stadium High School in Tacoma.

Released on March 31, 1999, 10 Things I Hate About You was number two at the domestic box office during its opening weekend, behind The Matrix, and was a moderate financial and critical success. It was a breakthrough film for Stiles, Ledger, and Gordon-Levitt, all of whom were nominated for various teen-oriented awards. Ten years later, the film was adapted into a television series of the same title, which ran for twenty episodes and featured Larry Miller reprising his role as the father, Walter Stratford, from the film.

Says Pazakis, "Our UMPO Series continues to expand, taking on everything from film to television shows, beloved classics to today's hits. Rockwell audiences always highly anticipate what we will tackle next, but what they are guaranteed every time are countless laughs, exceptional talent, and full entertainment all around. UMPO: 10 Things I Hate About You is the perfect production for newbies to pop their UMPO Series cherry!"
