PSYCHE: A Modern Rock Opera to Play Greenway Court Theatre, Begin. 8/22

Psyche Productions, LLC in association with Greenway Arts Alliance present the world premiere of, PSYCHE: A Modern Rock Opera, book, music and lyrics by Cindy Shapiro (based on the Greek myth of "Psyche and Eros"), with musical direction by Jack Wall, choreography by Janet Roston and directed by Ovation Award-winner Michael Matthews. PSYCHE: A Modern Rock Opera will begin previews on Friday, August 22 and will open on Friday, August 29 at 8pm and run through Sunday, September 28 at the Greenway Court Theatre, 544 North Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood.

Every "Once Upon A Time" began with her. In this modern retelling of the ancient Greek myth about the "original" princess, PSYCHE: A Modern Rock Opera is a stylistic musical hybrid of post-modernism and rock. A theatrical fever dream where the human princess Psyche and the god Eros fall wildly in love, but Aphrodite and Psyche's evil sisters may have other plans. When Psyche is spurned from her home, she is thrust into a netherworld where she is faced with challenge after daunting challenge in order to find her place in the world and of course, true love. But will she survive? Will she go the distance to overcome the wrath of Aphrodite to take her place in the universe as a true hero who will change the world and the very nature of love forever?

PSYCHE has assembled an award-winning design team. Set Design is by Stephen Gifford. Costume design is by E.B. Brooks. Lighting Design is by Tim Swiss. Sound Design is by Cricket S. Myers. Props Design is by Michael O'Hara. Aerial Director is Whitney Kirk. Aerial consulting is by Nathalie Gaulthier. The Casting Director is Jami Rudofsky. PSYCHE is stage-managed and associate produced by Rebecca Eisenberg. PSYCHE is being produced by Andrew Carlberg, Cindy Shapiro and Jack Wall.

The Cast of PSYCHE will feature: Ashley Ruth Jones as Psyche, Michael Starr as Eros, Laura L. Thomas as Aphrodite and will also feature: Benai Boyd, Mathew Domenic D'Amico, Katie Kitani, Philip Dean Lightstone, Cindy Sciacca, Nakia Secrest, Neil Taffe, Derrian Tolden, Grace Yoo and Cynthia Zitter.

PSYCHE will preview on Friday, August 22 & Saturday, August 23 at 8pm; Sunday, August 24 at 7pm; Wednesday, August 27 & Thursday, August 28 at 8pm and will open on Friday, August 29 at 8pm and run through Sunday, September 28 at the Greenway Court Theatre, 544 N. Fairfax Ave. in Hollywood.

Performances for PSYCHE are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm. Ticket prices are $34.99. Preview Tickets are $25.00. Special group rates available for parties of 10 or more.
