The Orange County Playwrights Alliance brings staged readings of three new one-act plays to the ocean-view Newport Theatre Arts Center on Saturday, July 12 - works written by dramatists who have been produced across America. All three works look at people who leave their comfort zones for new worlds, whether by choice or by chance.

A Sicilian's New World by Bob Bevacqua (Newport Beach) - Antonio finds the New World of America is not without its problems ... problems similar to those he had hoped to leave behind when he departed Italy. Directed by Philip Brickey (STAGEStheatre).

Montana/Fontana by Eric Eberwein (Huntington Beach) - Stuck in her smog-plagued hometown, Mary Toiler Moore dreams up an escape from her weird mother and her nowhere life. Directed by Katie Chidester (Fell Swoop Playwrights).

Fractaland by Andrea Sloan Pink (Irvine) - A kick to the head changes a man's life and sends him into the company of brilliant dreamers and mathematical decoders, and into world in which chance and destiny collide. Directed by Richard Stein (Arts Orange County).
