Norris Center for the Performing Arts Announces New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Norris Center for the Performing Arts has appointed James W. Gruessing Jr. as its new executive director effective immediately. Gruessing has been serving as interim executive director since June, 2010.

A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gruessing has been employed at the Norris Center for six years, and most recently held the position of artistic director. He has overseen the last 16 "Three-Play" productions as producer. Previously, he was artistic director at the Huntington Beach Playhouse, and box office treasurer for the Hollywood Bowl. Gruessing is also an accomplished actor and director.

In announcing the appointment, David Tomblin, president of the board of directors of the Norris Center for the Performing Arts, said, "Jim Gruessing has proven himself as an outstanding arts administrator, and we are confident that he will continue to provide the leadership required to continue the tradition of excellence that the Norris Center has become known for, as well as carrying out the vision of the Norris 2020 plan to ensure its future."
