Neile Adams to Bring THE LIVES OF ME at El Portal Theatre, 5/24-25

El Portal Theatre presents Ms. Neile Adams in The Lives of Me, A Musical Celebration of her memories and the stages of her life! Directed by Ted Sprague with Musical Direction by Andy Howe, The Lives of Me runs May 24 & May 25 for 2 shows only, at the Monroe Forum Theatre at the historic El Portal Theatre, 5269 Lankershim Blvd. in the heart of the NoHo Arts District.

From the moment she first burst onto the Broadway stage wowing audiences in the original productions of the"Kismet" in 1953 (as one of The Three Princesses of Ababu) and in "The Pajama Game" in 1956 (the role of Gladys, who danced the famed Bob Fosse choreographed "Steam Heat" number, entertainer Neile Adams has continued to enchant audiences far and wide.

Born in the Philippines, and of Spanish (Basque), Asian, English and German extraction, Adams career in entertainment took form in early childhood. Since then, her life has been nothing short of fascinating: as a child her home was burned down in Manila; her mother was taken prisoner with her in a Japanese Concentration Camp; they were soon emigrated to the United States with the help of General Douglas McArthur. She appeared with "Nita Bieber and her Dancers" as the Opening Act for the legendary Lena Horne at the Coconut Grove Night Club in the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles.

This was followed by her Broadway, television, film, stage and recording career triumphs; her intriguing backstage stories on working with the likes of Katherine Dunham, Jack Cole, George Abbott, Robert Wise, Billy Wilder, Bob Hope, Alfred Hitchcock and many others; her marriage to renowned actor, Steve McQueen; the birth of their children and her subsequent career hiatus; her best-selling book, "My Husband, My Friend," about her life with Steve McQueen, which she wrote to dispel myths that had been written about the couple, and as a lasting record for their two children and four grandchildren.

El Portal Theatre is a historic landmark in the San Fernando Valley located in the heart of North Hollywood just minutes from Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Disney, ABC, CBS-Radford and NBC Burbank. The theatre, originally built as a vaudeville house in 1926, sits across Lankershim Blvd from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Art Institute of California-Hollywood.
