Music for Autism and The Help Group Present a Free Summer Concert for Individuals with Autism and their Families on Sunday, July 14
Music for Autism and The Help Group present a free interactive concert for individuals with autism and their families on Sunday, July 14, 1:00 - 2:00pm at The Help Group Autism Center in Sherman Oaks.The unique one-hour event features "concert time" when audience members are free to respond to music as active audience members; "conducting time" when everyone is invited to conduct the musicians; and "percussion time" when participants are asked to play along on percussion instruments.The performance, "Broadway Our Way,"will feature Scott Harlan, singer, composer, vocal coach, pianist, musical director and performer with a long list of stage, film and television credits. He currently is the conductor and one of the soloists for "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber," which is now touring the U.S. Julie Garnye has performed on and off Broadway, as well as on film and TV, and will appear later this month at the Hollywood Bowl in "Chicago." DiAnne Fraser is an accomplished singer and stage performer who's delighted audiences in California with her hit cabaret show "Part Time Diva" and performed in summer stock and regional theatres around the country.
Founded in 1975, The Help Group is dedicated to helping young people with autism and other special needs fully realize their potential. It is the largest, most comprehensive nonprofit of its kind in the United States and is recognized as a leader in the field of autism. The Help Group offers a wide range of innovative autism spectrum disorder programs, and each day, more than 1000 students ages 3 - 22 attend its autism day schools. Other programs include assessment, early identification & intervention, therapeutic services, life skills coaching, transitional programs, residential programs, parent support groups, day camps, after-school enrichment and social skills programs.
Music for Autism is enhancing quality of life and raising public awareness through autism-friendly, interactive concerts developed specifically for individuals with autism and their families. The concerts, held in the United States and United Kingdom feature professional musicians, including Tony Award winners and Grammy-nominated classical artists, and Pulitzer Prize winners.
