Los Angeles Drama Club presents Fringe Scholarship Selection UNSPOKEN

By:
Los Angeles Drama Club, a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization presents a diverse cast of 11 actors to stir the stage this June with the World Premiere of UNSPOKEN: Shakespeare's Personae in Peril by award-winning playwright, Blaire Baron. Special press preview Saturday, June 3 at 4:00 to 5:00 PM (PST) at the Underground Theatre in Hollywood. Production dates: 6/3 at 4:00 PM, 6/9 at 9:00 PM, 6/11 at 7:00 PM, 6/17 at 5:30 PM. For more information, please visit:www.LosAngelesDramaClub.com.

UNSPOKEN was plucked from 150 applicants for the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival Scholarship Award, "for its themes of social marginalization, literacy preservation, and the play's homage to the life of a stage actor," says the playwright. "Our multi-cultural cast ranges from actors, ages 12 to 60, and you don't often see that range onstage." The play, directed by award-winning theatre veteran Matthew Singletary (A PIECE OF MY HEART), features various minor Shakespearean "characters" held inexplicably in an Actor's Greenroom until the discovery that they could be permanently cut unless their relevance is justified at a Tribunal. "It's a bittersweet comedy, whose noteworthy theme embraces all marginalized people and groups having to claim their right to exist in a rapidly intolerant society," affirms Singletary.

Blaire Baron is the founder of Los Angeles Drama Club - the Country's Youngest Shakespeare Troupe, where UNSPOKEN was conceived and inspired - as a response to the recent commission by an influential American Shakespeare Festival to have the entire Canon "adapted" for accessibility.

The talented cast will feature: Keith Barber (Schoolhouse Theatre: THE SEAFARER), Blaire Baron (FLY BOYS), Ida Darvish (INFERNO), Michael Goodman (LADC's MACBETH), Brian Graves (SPREADING DARKNESS), Will Gressman (THE CANDIDATE), Juliette Jeffers (BATMAN AND ROBIN IN THE BOOGIE DOWN), Rochelle Leffler (SOUTH PARK), Brandon Nagle (Ovation Award- FLY), Kila Packett (CTG's THE CHRISTIANS) and Nadia Trinidad (LADC's MERCHANT OF VENICE).

Tickets are $12 and available by visiting online: http://www.hollywoodfringe.org/projects/4559. All performances will be at the Underground Theatre 1314 Wilton Avenue Hollywood, CA 90028.
