Lonny Price, Oz Scott & Michael John Garces set for SDC Conversation Series

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) will present a One-on-One Conversation on Monday, December 6 at 7:30pm at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts Vocal Production Studio (1336 N. La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles).

Lonny Price and Oz Scott, Directors of stage, film and television, will discuss the capture of live theatre for broadcast and the influence of the stage director on the process as part of SDCF's Live on Screen Initiative, which aims to prepare theatre directors and choreographers for broadcast of their productions. Michael John Garcés, Artistic Director of Cornerstone Theater Company, will moderate.

This program is open to the public; and will take place immediately following the annual SDC West Coast Area Membership Meeting.

SDCF is presenting six One-on-One Conversations in 2010-2011. All conversations are audiotaped for future podcast in "SDCF's Masters of the Stage," a collaboration with AmericanTheatreWing.org, offering free downloadable programs with theatre's master artists.

Lonny Price co-wrote, directed and appeared in A Class Act on Broadway, which was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical. His other Broadway credits include Master Harold... and the Boys starring Danny Glover, the musical Urban Cowboy, and Sally Marr...and Her Escorts (co-written with Joan Rivers and Aaron Sanders.) Stage and television credits include Passion for Lincoln Center's Songbook Series and PBS's Live From Lincoln Center (Emmy award), and
for PBS's Great Performances, Sweeney Todd in Concert (Emmy Award) and Candide (Emmy nomination.)

Oz Scott is an award-winning television, theatrical and motion picture director whose credits span hundreds of television episodes and dozens of feature films, stage productions and made-for-TV movies. Oz's directorial talents have contributed to the success of award-winning shows such as "The Cosby Show," "The Jeffersons," "Hill Street Blues," "Fame," and "Northern Exposure." His theater directorial credits include The Ballad of Emmett Till at the Goodman Theatre and
Resurrection, which he staged at Arena Stage in Washington, DC, at Hartford Stage and again for Philadelphia Theatre Company.

Michael John Garcés is the Artistic Director of Cornerstone Theater Company in Los Angeles where he directed Someday by Julie Marie Myatt, attraction by Page Leong and The Falls by Jeffrey Hatcher. He also wrote the play Los Illegals for the company. Other directing credits include plays at the Humana Festival such as Finer Noble Gases by Adam Rapp, dark play by Carlos Murillo, and most recently the break/s by Marc Bamuthi Joseph which co-premiered at the Walker Art Center and was also presented at the Under the Radar Festival at The Public Theater and REDCAT in LA.

Founded in 1965 by Members of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) is the nation's premier organization that exists to foster, train, support and promote the craft of theatre Directors and Choreographers. SDCF aims to provide opportunities to practice the crafts of direction and choreography; promote emerging talent; grant access to career paths for emerging artists and young professionals; gather and disseminate craft and career information; provide forums for exchange of knowledge; and increase the awareness of the value of Directors' and Choreographers' work.

SDCF's ONE-ON-ONE CONVERSATION with Lonny Price and Oz Scott and moderated by Michael John Garcés is Monday, December 6 at 7:30pm in Los Angeles at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts Vocal Production Studio (1336 N.
