Little Fish Theatre's ETHAN CLAYMORE Opens 11/13

Little Fish Theatre today announced the opening of the final show of its 2015 season: Ethan Claymore, by Norm Foster. A popular Canadian playwright, Foster crafts bittersweet comedies that are always among the highlights of the Little Fish season. In recent years Little Fish has successfully produced many of his works including The Ladies Foursome, The Melville Boys, Looking, and The Love List.

Speaking of his work, Foster has been quoted, "I find it far more satisfying if I can make an audience laugh and feel a little heartache within the same story. The farces are a lot of fun to write but it's the stories that touch an audience's heart as well as its funny bone that are the most rewarding."

As Christmas approaches, the small farming town of Gladden's Head eagerly prepares for the season -- all except reclusive widower, Ethan Claymore. His high-spirited neighbor decides that enough is enough, and bursts into Ethan's life with a list of demands designed to rejoin Ethan with his community. He is aided in that task with the help of Ethan's recently deceased brother and an enchanting newcomer to town. Holiday spirit and charm abound in this Christmas gem.

The hard-working Ethan Claymore is played by Mitchell McCollum, a new face at Little Fish. Bill Wolski, a Little Fish favorite, plays Ethan's smart-aleck brother, Martin, while Rodney Rincon, another celebrated Little Fish regular, plays Douglas, the neighbor. Tara Donovan rounds out the cast as the lovely newcomer, Teresa.

"This is a Christmas story we've never heard before," explains director Holly Baker-Kreiswirth. "It's a beautiful, heartwarming tale of new love, old friendships, a family reunited, and the charm of a small town rallying around a member in need." Baker-Kreiswirth has directed numerous plays at Little Fish over the years, including one of this season's audience favorites, Oh, Baby, and StageSceneLA award-winner Tryst in 2012.

Ethan Claymore will run Fridays and Saturdays November 13th through December 19th at 8pm. Mid-week performances will be presented Thursday December 10th and 17th at 8pm. Sunday matinees are scheduled for 2pm on November 22nd and 29th as well as December 6th. The creative team will be available for 10 to 15 minutes for post-show discussion with the audience on November 22nd and December 6th.

Founded in 2002, Little Fish Theatre presents classic and contemporary plays in an intimate setting on Centre Street in downtown San Pedro. Producing eleven plays each year for a one-room 65-seat venue, Little Fish delivers the quintessential close-up theatrical experience, where audience and performers share space and sight-lines, making for eruptive laughter, highly-charged action and palpable emotion.
