Life Group LA to Hold RESILIENCY: SELF CARE & ADVOCACY IN TROUBLED TIMES Workshop

Life Group LA will hold a free half-day workshop titled "RESILIENCY; Self Care & Advocacy in Troubled Times" on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 10am - 4pm in West Hollywood. The event focus is to ignite our community in the name of emotional support and activism.

The LBGTQ and Allies community has a long history of standing up in the face of societal and cultural opposition to fight for our right to safety, openness and freedom. Whether it was the Stonewall riots, the response to the AIDS crisis, or the fight for marriage equality, we have come together to as a community to support each other and manifest change.

"With all the ciaos & fear in the world, we wanted to support our community with as many skills and tools to get through the day being emotionally strong and not going into depression or too deeply into fear... this isn't specifically an HIV forum however insuring and boosting the immune system helps heal; we just felt the community needed more of the emotional support and tools that the Life Group LA offer's that transcends any specific health status!" - Sunnie Rose, Executive Director

The day will be filled with key note speakers including Mark Edgar Stephen, Professional Development Coach, Garry Bowie, Being Alive Executive Director, John Sovec MA, LMFT, C. Nathan Bergeron, LMFT, Lac. And Dr. Neva Chauppette, Psy D.

Here are the four presentations which will be held that day:

Bounce Back - Learn to battle the downward spiral of negative messages and create a more powerful outlook on your daily life

Activism 101 - The nuts and bolts of how you can be an activist in your community

Staying In Your Resiliency Zone - Powerful tools to manage stress

Seeing Through the Alternative Reality of Gaslighting - How to defend and sustain yourself against messages of distorted reality and thrive in times of civil unrest

The event will also provide snacks, beverages and lunch for all who attend. The half-day workshop on Sat. March 18 will run from 10am-4pm. Space is limited so RSVP early at 888-208-8081 or online at www.LifeGroupla.org/workshop.
