LAS GARCIA Returns to Asylum Studio

Actor, Writer, and Spoken Word Poet Gabriela Ortega returns to Studio C Artists with her award-winning solo performance. A richly rewarding, brightly telling two stories interwoven seamlessly and poetically shared about her life and ancestry in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Under the muscular direction of Alex Alpharaoh, "Las Garcia" returns for a limited engagement after a sold-out run the 2016 Hollywood Fringe festival.

Las Garcia is a timely, heartbreaking and poignantly funny piece about two Dominican women of the same bloodline, fighting to find their true selves through love, war, and their innermost desires.

Gabriela Ortega digs into what it means to be a Dominican woman after being taught to bury the past in order to move on.

ABOUT GABRIELA ORTEGA

Gabriela was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and is an LA bases Actress, writer and Spoken word poet. She is a recent graduate from USC's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting program (Class of 2017)

A proud Latina, Feminist and above all: a collaborator, Gabriela is thrilled to bring back her show after a year of growth and development.

Some of her most recent roles include: 2017 Playwrights Festival at The Road Theatre Company, 2017 Young Playwright Festival at the Blank Theatre, Las Garcia (HFF16), Mi Casa/ Su Casa at the Lyric Hyperion Theatre, HOMEFREE* by Lisa Loomer at The Road*, SPIT! at HFF15, The House of Bernarda Alba with the Bilingual Foundation of The Arts (Magdalena), Grey Street, The Musical (Off-Broadway Workshop, Ensemble) and Blossoming readings with The Vagrancy.
