L.A. Theatre Works Airs CAKEWALK, Begins 6/12
Beginning Saturday, June 12, L.A. Theatre Works Radio Theatre Series will air Cakewalk. Broadway legend Elaine Stritch and Oscar nominee Bruce Davison star in Peter Feibleman's memory play about his tumultuous May-December relationship with literary legend Lillian Hellman.
Known to Hellman as "Cuff," a nickname she borrowed from Walt Whitman, Peter Feibleman was first introduced to the celebrated playwright as a child. When he was 26 and finding himself as a writer, and she 51 with her best plays behind her, they became lovers, and their stormy relationship lasted 25 years until her death in 1984. Featuring original music by Carly Simon. The broadcast also includes interviews with Hellman biographer Deborah Martinson and author Rosemary Mahoney, author of A Likely Story: One Summer with Lillian Hellman.
