Jones, Cassidy Set for Cabrillo Holiday Spectacular

By:

Cabrillo Music Theatre is thrilled to announce that legend of stage, screen and television, Shirley Jones, and Broadway star Patrick Cassidy will star in The CABRILLO 2010 HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR, directed by Cheryl Baxter at the 1,800-seat Fred Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

Shirley Jones, the Oscar-winning star of stage, screen, television and music, and her son Patrick Cassidy, Broadway and television star, lead a cast of thirty and an onstage orchestra in The CABRILLO 2010 HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR.  Featuring Cabrillo stars past and present, dazzling dance, memorable holiday music and even Santa's elves!
Directing and choreographing is internationally recognized Cheryl Baxter, who began her choreography career assisting Gene Kelly, and whose work is known nationwide.  Dan Redfeld will Musical Direct, and lead the 15-piece Cabrillo Music Theatre Orchestra.  Part dazzling spectacle in the spirit of Radio City and countless television variety shows, and part warm family gathering, and tied up with a ribbon by the Shirley Jones and Patrick Cassidy, the 2010 CABRILLO HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR is perfect entertainment for the entire family.

"No one says 'family' like Shirley Jones," says Carole W. Nussbaum, Cabrillo Music Theatre's President and Chief Executive Officer.  "We're pulling out all the stops and bringing in all the bells and whistles for the CABRILLO 2010 HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR."  Continues Nussbaum, "Shirley Jones has been entertaining the world for three generations.  From her memorable star turns in OKLAHOMA, CAROUSEL, and THE MUSIC MAN, to her iconic musical mom in 'The Partridge Family,' Shirley Jones, for good reason, has remained a superstar in entertainment for over fifty years."

Shirley, one of America's most famous moms, brings some "family" of her own as she shares the stage with her son, Patrick Cassidy.  Patrick, the son of the late Jack Cassidy, has carved out an impressive career on Broadway (THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, AIDA, and ANNIE GET YOUR GUN) as well as films and television.  Says Carole W. Nussbaum, "Shirley Jones and Patrick Cassidy were the first Mother-Son team to share the Broadway stage, in 42ND STREET.  It's an honor to have Shirley and Patrick bring their unequalled talent to the CABRILLO 2010 HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR!"

Cabrillo Music Theatre continues its ongoing commitment to the community by once again setting aside a performance of the Holiday show to be "Military Night," with hundreds of troops from neighboring bases attending the show with their families, free of charge.  In addition, armed forces families will be in attendance at all performances, which promises to make the 2010 CABRILLO HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR STARRING Shirley Jones & Patrick Cassidy a sentimental and entertaining holiday confection for the entire family.

The 2010 CABRILLO HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR STARRING Shirley Jones & Patrick Cassidy is an added attraction for Cabrillo's 2010-2011 season, which includes Happy Days: A NEW MUSICAL, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES, THE PRODUCERS, and THE SOUND OF MUSIC.  For best value, purchase season tickets and receive discounts and privileged seating for the 2010 CABRILLO HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR STARRING Shirley Jones & Patrick Cassidy
