Jai Rodriguez Plays Arthur Newman Theatre, 8/14
Emmy Award winning Host/Singer Jai Rodriguez began his career at age 18 in the role of Angel in the smash-hit Broadway Musical RENT. Other Broadway shows followed including: The Producers, Spinning Into Butter and Zanna Don't, where he created the title role of Zanna. In tandem with Broadway, Jai played the cabaret circuit and created his long-running "Twisted Cabaret" - a concert series that ran for three consecutive years at one of New York City's most notable hotpots, Club XL.
Most recognized for his role in the hit BRAVO TV series: Queer Eye For The Straight Guy where Jai created a niche role as the ‘Culture Vulture' a youthfully savvy addition to the show's already dynamic cast. Jai works regularly as an authority in culture and style and can be seen as the host of many successful shows including: Styleyes Miami (SiTv), America's Prom Queen (ABC Family), Ultimate Style (Style Network), Groomer Has It (Animal Planet), and Model Latina (SiTv). As an actor, Jai has guest starred on numerous series for LOGO, FX, and NICK Networks as well as feature films and stage productions in New York City and Los Angeles.
A dynamic vocalist, Jai has had the honor of sharing the stage with musical legends Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Brian McKnight, Taylor Dayne and Michelle Williams. Jai's music continues to thrive both in and out of the recording studio with the launch of his one-man shows XPOSED and My Truth. For his debut at The Arthur Newman Theatre, Jai will present both popular and Broadway songs as well as ones from The Great American Songbook along with stories from his career and tales of his past. Joining him will be acclaimed musical director Christopher Marlowe on the baby grand piano. Show time on Saturday, August 14, 2010 is 7 PM and tickets are $10 at the door or on line at www.brownpapertickets/event/122023.
