Global Green and FLAUNT Announce #StandForGreen Oscar Week Event

By:

On the heels of the new administration's anti-environmental directives that included Executive Orders greenlighting the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines as well as freezing the critically important work of the EPA to keep our communities healthy and safe, GlobAl Green, a national environmental organization headquartered in Southern California, called on the Hollywood community to raise its collective voice to #StandForGreen on February 22nd.

"GlobAl Green invites the Hollywood community and concerned citizens everywhere to Stand with Standing Rock by celebrating the heroic leadership of Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Council Chairman David Archambault II, and other environmental leaders working to protect the people, places and planet in need," said GlobAl Green President and CEO Les McCabe. "The modern environmental movement was led by citizen activists nearly five decades ago and we will demonstrate the massive national and global support for environmental and climate action through citizen activists today."

The green carpet fundraiser will be held at the all new TAO Hollywood, in association with Flaunt Magazine, to raise funds and awareness for GlobAl Green's climate initiatives in LA, San Francisco, New York City, New Orleans, Washington DC and cities throughout the country.

Event host committee members include: Ed Begley Jr., Orlando Bloom, Sebastian Copeland (event co-founder), State Senate President Pro Tempore Kevin de León, Maggie Grace, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Lyn and Norman Lear, Ed O'Neill, Matt Petersen (event co-founder), Oliver Stone and Matt Walsh.

The event will provide the Hollywood community with one of its first opportunities to demonstrate their resistance and extreme disappointment in the new administration's policy directions that look to undermine the health of our air, water, and climate. It will also celebrate the planet protectors who are fighting for the people and the environment.

The event is chaired by GlobAl Green co-founder Diane Meyer Simon and co-chaired by Sarah Meyer Simon and Rachel Simon. Event sponsor partners include Earth Friendly Products, the maker of ECOS Laundry Detergent, Baby ECOS cleaners and over 200 other environmentally-friendly cleaners, as well as Lux & Eco, ICElandic, and Fetzer Vineyards.

Tickets for the event go on sale today and can be found at: http://www.globalgreen.org/oscar2017.
