Ed Harris, James Cromwell Join LATC's BEING HAROLD PINTER Benefit Reading, 2/25
Ed Harris and James Cromwell are set for the reading of Los Angeles Theatre Center's BEING Harold Pinter. The benefit will be held on February 25 as a part of The Global Theatre Project's Gala Benefit. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Belarus Free Theatre.
The play is a collage of selected writings from the UK dramatist and Nobel laurette, Harold Pinter, who was a passionate supporter of Belarus Free Theatre up until his death in December 2008; combined with testimonials by political prisoners who have been arrested, assaulted, imprisoned, and in some cases abducted by the KGB in Minsk, during the peaceful protests of the questionable "re-election" of Alexandr Lukashenko.
The Global Theatre Project develops and supports opportunities for creative exchange and collaboration that will unite American theatre artists and students with their international counterparts positively affecting the communities in which they are working. The Global Theatre Project seeks to promote cross-cultural exchange and improve the perception of Americans abroad by engaging two valuable segments of our citizenry into productive action: our professional theatre artists and our youth.
