Celebration Theatre to Host SISTERS THREE Reading, 11/18

The Brontë sisters, modern day. Due to the death of their brother, Charlotte has dropped out of society and joined a commune on Gondol Island. So Emily and Anne build a canoe to rescue her. In this off-center dramedy about family, social media, fame and the perfect cupcake, individual secrets and desires are revealed which could tear the sisters apart.

JAMI BRANDLI (Playwright) Ms. Brandli's plays include Technicolor Life, BLISS (or Emily Post is Dead!), S.O.E., M-Theory, ¡SOLDADERA!, and Sisters Three; her short plays are published with Smith & Kraus. Her work has been produced and developed at HotCity Theatre, WordBRIDGE, Ashland New Plays Festival, The Lark, New York Theatre Workshop, Great Plains Theatre Conference, The Aurora Theatre Company, Launch Pad, Milwaukee Rep, Rogue Machine Theatre, among other venues. She received the John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award, the Holland New Voices Award and most recently The Aurora Theatre Company's 2014 Global Age Project (GAP) Prize.

Technicolor Life will receive its world premiere at Rep Stage as part of Washington DC's 2015 Women's Voices Theatre Festival.BLISS (or Emily Post is Dead!) was just named in The Kilroy's THE LIST, which highlights the 46 most recommended new female-authored plays for this year. She was a finalist for the Playwrights' Center Core Writer Fellowship, Princess Grace Award and O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. She was also nominated for the 2013 Susan Smith Blackburn Award and a finalist for the Disney ABC TV Fellowship. A proud member of the Playwrights Union and Moving Arts, Jami teaches dramatic writing at Lesley University's low-residency MFA program and is represented by The Gersh Agency. www.jamibrandli.com

MICHAEL SHUTT (Director) is a recent addition to Celebration Theatre. He is also a longtime member of Moving Arts where he served as Managing Director for three years, and is currently the Executive Director of MADLab (Moving Arts Development Lab), an annual 9-month New Play Development Program. As a director, Michael is passionate about fostering and developing new plays. He has directed numerous developmental readings and workshops for playwrights such as EM Lewis, Jami Brandli, Stephanie Alison Walker, Ross Kendall, Trey Nichols, and Sara Israel. He was instrumental in helping develop the well-known Theatrical Event, The Car Plays, having been involved since its inception as a producer, a director, and actor. He has directed ten different Car Plays over the years, including Jami Brandli's Flooding at both South Coast Rep/Segerstrom Center and The La Jolla Playhouse. As an actor, he has done over 500 performances in some car or another as part of this event. Michael has also originated roles in countless plays over the years, most notably the award-winning production of EM Lewis' Song of Extinction.

Admission is free... with donations gratefully accepted. Celebrating New Works is produced by Celebration Theatre's Literary Manager Nathan Frizzell. Celebration Theatre is headed by its Co-Artistic Directors Michael Matthews and Michael A. Shepperd, along with its Executive Director Michael C. Kricfalusi.
