Center Theatre Group Producing Director Douglas C. Baker was honored recently by The Broadway League with an award of excellence that recognizes those who have displayed exemplary service to the Broadway industry and are considered innovators of their craft.

Baker received the prestigious Outstanding Achievement in Presenter Management, the Samuel J. L'Hommedieu Award, at the League's Spring Road Conference last week in New York City.

Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League, said, "League members work tirelessly year-round to bring Broadway shows to patrons in New York and cities across the U.S. and Canada. All of us at The Broadway League are proud to present the League Awards to active members of the industry who consistently go above and beyond to ensure the greatest quality of work."

Douglas C. Baker has worked over 20 years with CTG, Los Angeles' premiere theatre company, where he supervises all productions and presentations at the Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum at the Los Angeles Music Center and the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. The Ahmanson Theatre, in particular, is somewhat unique in its programming in that CTG produces many of its own productions, remounts current Broadway and West End productions exclusively for Los Angeles audiences, and presents national touring productions. Previous to CTG, Baker managed numerous Broadway and touring productions including "Tru" starring Robert Morse, "Born Yesterday" starring Ed Asner and Madeline Kahn, "The Gospel at Colonus," "Annie"(Broadway and four national touring companies), "A Chorus Line," "Working," "The Wiz," and "Legends!" starring Mary Martin and Carol Channing.

Baker is a graduate of Albion College, an active member of the Broadway League, the IPN, LORT and NAMT; and is a proud member of the Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers.

The Broadway League is the national trade association for the Broadway industry. It has over 700 members - theatre owners and operators, producers, presenters, and general managers in North American cities - as well as suppliers of goods and services to the commercial theatre industry. Each year, League members bring Broadway to more than 30 million people in New York and more than 200 cities across the U.S. and Canada.
