CONCEALING JUDY HOLLIDAY Opens at Pacific Resident Theatre, 4/14

CONCEALING Judy Holliday is described as "a funny and poignant journey through the memories, dreams and hallucinations of  the 1950’s Academy Award winning actress." Written by Wendy Johnson and directed by Guillermo Cienfuegos, this is the fourth show of Pacific Resident Theatre's 25th season.

WENDY JOHNSON (Playwright; Judy Hollidayis a graduate of NYU and Circle in the Square. NYC theatre credits include: Eleva­tor Repair Service’s THE LOVE FAMILY VS. Andy Kaufman, and COLLATERAL DAMAGE at La Mama E.T.C. LA theatre credits include: SCARCITY with needtheatre, FLOW MY TEARS, THE PO­LICEMAN SAID and SMALL CRAFT WARNINGS at the Evidence Room (nomination, Best Supporting Actress, LA Weekly), OUT OF TIME with nom de guerre, directed by Guillermo Cienfuegos; SIDEWAYS STORIES AT THE WAYSIDE SCHOOL at South Coast Rep; THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON’T THEY? (Best Production and Ensemble Awards, LA Weekly) and Jose Rivera’s SONNETS FOR AN OLD CENTURY at Greenway Court Theatre. Film and TV: JUST VISITING, BREAK A LEG, THE MEDICINE STORY, STRONG MEDICINE, PROVIDENCE, MENTAL and THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE.

GUILLERMO CIENFUEGOS (Director) most recently directed Vince Melocchi’s JULIA - both here (for which he was nominated for an LA Weekly Theatre Award for Best Director), and in New York at the 59E59Theatre Off Broadway. His previous collaboration with Vince Melocchi at PRT, LIONS, was nominated for an Ovation Award and published by Samuel French. He is also the found­ing producer/director of the critically acclaimed LA company nom de guerre, where he directed a number of plays and films including PAINS OF YOUTH (for which he was named among the top directors of the year by Backstage) and the company’s sig­nature improvisationally-developed pieces STAY SWEET STAY HAPPY and OUT OF TIME.
