Ammunition Theatre Company Presents BRAIN PROBLEMS Ammunition Theatre Company has announced the world premiere production of Brain Problems, a new comedy by Malcolm Barrett directed by Bernardo Cubria. Opening is set for Friday, April 26, at 8pm, at The Pico in West Los Angeles. The engagement will continue through May 19 only.

The play: After being diagnosed with 'brain problems,' a cynical man copes with his life-threatening condition by retreating into his imagination.

The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Malcolm Barrett, Michael Feldman, Kim Hamilton, Tina Huang, Jason Ryan Lovett, Brit Manor, and Brandon Scott. Understudies are (in alphabetical order) Karen Sours Albisua, Ahmed Best, Alice Hunter, Nicole Pacent, Peter Pasco, Michael Rachlis, and Jonathan Tchaikovsky.

The set design is by Amanda Knehans, lighting design is by Masai Mitchell, and sound design is by Mischa Stanton. Puppet Master isStephen Rowan, dance choreography is by Brit Manor, and fight choreography is by Ahmed Best. The stage manager is Camella Cooper.

Malcolm Barrett is a writer, actor, and rapper. Barrett, aka Verbal the Rapper, has been doing theatre for over two decades. His most recent TV roles include Hoover in Preacher and Rufus Carlin in Timeless. Theatre credits include Larry in The Tragedy and Dwight in Jon Caren's play The Recommendation, for which he won an Ovation Award. After writing many short plays and one-acts, this is his first full-length play. Barrett is the artistic director of Ammunition Theatre Company.

Bernardo Cubría is a writer and director. His most recent directing credits are Spiritwheel by Xochitl Romero and Verity Branco and Metalhead by Greg Hundemer, both in the Hollywood Fringe Festival. For his play The Giant Void in My Soul he received Ovation, LADCC, and Stage Raw Award nominations as Best Playwright. He is co-writer of the short Spanish Class which won Best Comedy at the NBC Universal Shorts Awards (2018). His play Neighbors: A Fair Trade Agreement was a semi-finalist at the O'Neill Playwrights Conference (2017). The play received its world premiere at INTAR in NYC in the fall of 2017. Cubria is a member of Ammunition Theatre Company.

Ammunition Theatre Company was founded in the spring of 2015 with a mission to produce work featuring underrepresented stories told in innovative ways, while actively working and creating in our community.

The running schedule is Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm. There will be an added performance on Thursday, May 2, at 8pm featuring the understudy cast. General admission seating is $35 and tickets may be purchased online at www.ammotheatre.com or by calling (323) 798-5389.
