25 PLAYS PER HOUR is Back- Starts Today!

25 Plays Per Hour is back at the Hollywood Fringe by popular demand...again! And to celebrate the show's fifth anniversary, Theatre Unleashed is proud to present 25 of its most popular and acclaimed short works in The Best of 25 Plays Per Hour,playing at the Theatre Asylum Lab.

The rebirth of the Super Short, 25PPH features 25 original plays with a handful of the company's premiere actors playing over 50 characters in less than an hour. Fusing comedy, drama and everything in between, these amazing pieces make for speed theatre at its best!

"Fringe is about two things, in my opinion: it's an opportunity to create, and it's about putting up something amazing in a short burst of time with production restraints," said co-director Courtney Sara Bell. "With 25PPH, we get to do that 25 times, making it the absolute embodiment of Fringe!"

After a sell-out run at last year's Hollywood Fringe Festival that earned a nomination in the "Best in Ensemble Theatre" category and a Best of Fringe extension, Theatre Unleashed immediately decided to bring back its running series for this year's Fringe. Taking on the challenge of presenting the best pieces of the past five years, Bell and co-director Corey Lynne Howe had to read through over a hundred scripts to find the 25 they thought would best celebrate this popular production.

"Once we got the scripts compiled from all five years, Courtney and I took about a week to read all of them on our own," Howe said. "When we finally met to go over our respective favorites, we quickly discovered that most of our lists matched! The remaining scripts were an equitable compromise that I really believe balances out the show and provides 25 separate but equally fun, funny and thought-provoking plays to fill out our hour. You're going to see some tried and true favorites, to be certain, but all of them staged anew to keep even our returning patrons brimming with fresh-eyed curiosity."

Along with The Best of 25 Plays Per Hour, Theatre Unleashed will also co-produce the acclaimed and hard-hitting teen angst drama Friends Like These with Mad Magpie.
