September Marked As Hunger Action Month In LV 9/1-30
September marks the third annual Hunger Action Month, a national initiative sponsored by Feeding America to raise awareness about hunger in local communities. In Southern Nevada, more than 300,000 men, women and children struggle with having consistent access to food and more than 50 percent of Clark County school students receive free or reduced priced lunch.
Three Square Food Bank is partnering with various organizations throughout the month on more than a dozen different special events to increase awareness about hunger in our Valley and start to close the hunger gap.
Hunger Action Month kicks off with Las Vegas Restaurant Week, Aug. 29-Sept. 11 and will wrap up with Three Square's annual benefit event - DISH Las Vegas, presented by Smith's Food & Drug Stores - to be held at the Palms Pool & Bungalows on Thursday Sept. 22.

7/29/2010 - 1/31/2011: Cheesecake Factory-Cheesecake Promotion
This is your chance to order dessert guilt free! For every slice of The Reese's® Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake sold The Cheesecake Factory will donate $.25 to Feeding America, with a portion of the proceeds coming back to Three Square.
8/29 - 9/11: Restaurant Week
Help out by dining out! Restaurant Week is a weeklong celebration of fine dining. Participating restaurants offer pre-fixe meals at special prices and a portion of each cover goes to Three Square to help end hunger in Southern Nevada. 8/28 - 10/15: Third Annual Lose For Good Campaign
There are more than 800 million underfed people and, at the same time, 1.6 billion overweight people in the world, according to recent statistics. 9/17: Buck Up for Hunger
Come out to Horseman's Park to see some of the top Bucking Bulls in the nation and fight hunger at the same time! The Western States Bucking Bull Association Finals will feature bull riding, food and drink vendors, music, a Kiddie Rodeo, and tons of fun for the whole family. Gates open at 3PM and admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 12 and up. Children 11 and under are free. Bring a non-perishable food item to benefit "Three Square" and get $1 off any admission fee or donate 2 or more items and receive $2 off the admission fee. 9/17: The Jewelers Downtown Diamond Dash
The Jewelers Downtown Diamond Dash is a one-day, real world treasure hunt throughout downtown Las Vegas. Teams of two will answer riddles and complete challenges right from their cell phones as they follow clues for the chance to win a $15,000 Natalie K diamond ring! Registration starts at 10AM at the El Cortez and wraps up at 1PM at the Brass Lounge with an awards party where the winner will be announced! 9/27-10/26: Student Food Drive
The Student Food Drive, presented by Quality's One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating, is a competition amongst area high schools and junior high schools to collect and donate food to Three Square Food Bank, with the winning schools earning up to $1,000 to use towards the school program of their choice. Through the four week course of the Drive, students rally their schools to collect the most food to donate to Three Square by hosting creative events and challenges that engage the entire school to participate. The Drive kicks off on Tuesday, September 27th with a kickoff party at Three Square's warehouse and wraps up with an awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 2nd at which time the winners will be announced. The drive is also sponsored by CDW Logistics and National Security Technologies, LLC. For more information call 644-FOOD.
